Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has rewarded his “chellemma” Sabita Indra Reddy with Home portfolio, as she turned out to be his lucky mascot.
In a way, Sabita should consider herself very lucky, as Home minister is considered to be No. 2 in the cabinet. And she gained the credit of being the first woman home minister, which is no easy task.
Sabita, who earlier held the portfolio of mines and geology, helped YSR in several ways. Without taking aarthi from her, YSR does not take up any programme. Earlier, he launched all his programmes, including election campaigns and government programmes, only from Chevella. Even in the recent elections, he launched his election campaign from this place and that proved his “Chevella Chellemma” sentiment right: he became the first Congress chief minister in three decades to retain power.
No wonder, YSR gave her such a pleasant surprise!
