Subba Rao has no supporters
Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao has become completely isolated in the IAS circles in the state. Though he earned a lot of reputation for successfully conducting the elections without any law and order problems and major complaints of irregularities, he could not get any support from his own comrades in the bureaucracy.
When Director General of Police S S P Yadav dashed off a series of letters to Subba Rao seeking an explanation why he was shifted from the post during the elections, not a single IAS officer came to the rescue of Subba Rao, though it amounted to questioning the authority of a constitutional body. On the other hand, a couple of IAS officers in the CMO are directly supporting Yadav and finding fault with Subba Rao.
Reason is simple: no officer wants to antagonise Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who is fully supporting the DGP. And since all of them want good postings, they can’t open their mouths now. How sad?
